Arrange a Stay
Each of the 30 fully furnished guestrooms has a private bath, two beds, television, VCR/DVD, private phone line, and clock radio. All rooms contain appropriate bedding and towels.
To underscore its “home-away-from-home” environment, the House has communal living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and laundry area. A minimum of five nights per week, volunteer Guest Chefs prepare or deliver dinner for the families.
The House pantry is full of cooking supplies as well as condiments and spices. Communal refrigerators are stocked with milk, eggs, goodies and other donated foods. Families are welcome to help themselves 24/7.
To schedule your stay at our Ronald McDonald House®, follow these instructions:
A referral must be made by a social worker from the medical facility where your child is being treated. Have them contact our Guest Services office at (505) 842-8960 to provide the information needed for your stay.
If you have stayed with us in the past you do not need a referral. Simply call us at (505) 842-8960. We will confirm your child’s appointment with your medical professional.
The House is frequently full and there is usually a waiting list. As soon as you know you need lodging, it is best to call and put your name on the wait list. Staff will give you instructions on how to proceed once your name is on the list. Families are usually placed on a first-come, first-served basis, however exceptions may be made at the discretion of the House Manager based on extenuating circumstances. House staff will verify the hospital appointments and periodically review the status of the patients’ treatment with the hospitals.
What is the cost of staying at the Ronald McDonald House?
Families are asked to make a donation of $15 a night. Donations can be made by cash, check or charge (Visa and MasterCard only). Ronald McDonald House is an approved Medicaid and Centennial Care vendor, so your stay may be covered by them.
What time can I check into the House?
Families can check in between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m daily, when there is a staff person on duty to help them register and give you a tour of the facility. Check-in takes about 20 minutes, so plan accordingly.
How many people can stay in the room?
Only one room is allotted to each patient and family. Room occupancy is limited and based on the size of the room available with the maximum being five people.
Referrals may be made well in advance; however, rooms are assigned based on availability that day.
